190 reports were presented on five topics: theoretical linguistics; language-culture; interdisciplinary and social linguistics; languages of ethnic minorities, dialects and history of the Vietnamese language; and applied linguistics. Language – culture was discussed in depth with 32 reports conducted by 37 author, one of them is a Thai researcher.

The Institute of Linguistics has affirmed its important role in studying the Vietnamese language by conducting research, linking linguistic organizations and pieces of research, publishing results of Vietnamese and foreign linguistic studies, and promoting personnel training.
