(VOVworld) – On Tuesday US President Barack Obama, chairing a UN Summit on the global migrant crisis in New York, said 50 countries will take in 360,000 refugees in 2016, twice the number received last year.

Obama praised Germany and Canada among other countries for opening their doors to victims fleeing the war in Syria and other conflicts.

He called on the international community to increase their funding for aid activities, from 10 billion USD in 2015 to 14.5 billion USD in 2016.
