(VOVworld) – 530 war veterans are attending the 5^th National Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association in Hanoi.

In his address, President Truong Tan Sang praised the performance of the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association over the last 25 years as a solid political and social organization representing the will and aspirations of war veterans nationwide: “The Association’s first and foremost political task is to unite and mobilize war veterans to contribute to developing the Party and consolidating national unity. Association members should be more active in patriotic emulation movements and other national economic developmental, cultural, national defense, and security activities.”

He asked Association members to implement Ho Chi Minh’s Thoughts on patriotic emulation and coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front in exercising social supervision and criticism as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle in residential areas. He also asked the Association to honor and replicate outstanding role models, particularly in the mountain, island, remote, and ethnic areas.
