(VOVworld) - The Victory in the Great Patriotic War against fascism, in which the former Soviet Union played a decisive role, wrote an undeniably vivid page in human history, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh at a Wednesday ceremony marking the victory’s 70th anniversary.
The event was hosted by the embassies of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. Minh added that the victory encouraged Vietnamese people to reclaim their independence through the August revolution of 1945 and to establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, opening up a new page in Vietnam’s history.

Minh said developing ties with Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia is given priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy. He expressed his confidence that Vietnam’s relations with these countries will reap fruits in the future.
