(VOVworld)- The Vietnam-US Society of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations will mark its 70^th anniversary on Saturday. President of the Society Nguyen Tam Chien said that since its establishment, the Society has organized activities suitable to different historical periods in Vietnamese and Vietnam-US relations. He said that the Society will continue to promote exchanges to enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples: “Vietnam is open to integrating into the world and to promote people’s diplomacy with many countries including the US. Vietnam-US relations have reached new heights as they changed from former foes to partners. The Vietnamese and American people should do more to develop bilateral ties. The two peoples, especially the young, should continue to write a better history instead of memories of war”.

Marking this occasion, the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Vu Xuan Hong conferred the first class Order to the Vietnam-US Society for its contributions to Vietnamese-US ties over the past 70 years.
