(VOVworld) - The seventh Summit of the Americas (OAS) opened on Friday in Panama with the attendance of leaders and representatives from 35 countries and the UN Chief Ban Ki-moon.

Under the theme “Prosperity with Equality: Challenges of Cooperation in the Americas”, the two-day summit will discuss emerging challenges in education, energy, immigration and security. The US-Venezuela relations and the conflicted islands between Argentina and Britain are also high on the agenda. Prior to the Summit, Cuban President Raul Castro and US President Barack Obama had talks with Ecuador President Rafael Correa.
