Police investigated on Tuesday, December 30, the "senseless mass murder" of 6 adults and two children who were apparently slain by a depressed man who then killed himself. The killings began late Monday in the southern part of Edmonton, a city of nearly one million people, where a man shot to death a woman in her 30s then fled, said the city's Police Chief Rod Knecht. The suspected killer then headed to a residence in the north of the city, where he killed another 7 people –3 women, two men, a girl and a boy. The body of the suspected killer was found early Tuesday in Fort Saskatchewan, a northeastern suburb of Edmonton, after he committed suicide.
