(VOVworld) - US authorities on Thursday tentatively approved 8 airlines to fly directly from the US to Havana. Those flights could begin as early as this fall.

Airlines that won approval include Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and United Airlines. The routes are from Charlotte, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, and New York City. There will be total 20 daily flights from the US to Havana, assuming maximum usage of the civil aviation quota previously agreed by both sides.
