(VOVworld) – The National Assembly on Monday approved an aid package worth 800 million USD to support the marine police, fisheries resources surveillance forces and fishermen. The deputies hailed this policy amid the complications in the East Sea.

Tran Cao Muu, Secretary General of the Vietnam Fisheries Association, said: “Investment should focus on modernizing offshore fishing boats in the central provinces such as Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, and Binh Dinh. This will help to protect our maritime sovereignty. Iron-clad ships should be built and logistical services have to be improved to increase fishing productivity. Crewmembers should be trained to use modern equipment.”
