900 people killed, missing after Bopha storm in Philippines

Two days after Bopha storm hit the Philippines, more than 250 thousand people are homeless, 477 people are dead and 380 people are missing, and the emergency response is underway. Schools, sport centers, and public buildings have become temporary shelters. Philippine President Benigno Aquino has ordered authorities to distribute supplies of food and medicine. Three towns with 150 thousand people were isolated by landslides and roads were seriously damaged on the East Coast of Mindanao. The US, Japan, and Singapore, and others expressed solidarity with Philippine’s people and government by sending a rescue teams to Mindanao. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent offered financial aid of 4.9 million USD.
