(VOVworld) – To mark Buddha’s 2559^th birth anniversary, major streets in Hue city have been decorated with lanterns, flowers, and pennants. Various activities will be held from May 25 to June 1 including a procession of Buddha’s statue from Dieu De pagoda to Tu Dam pagoda to pray for national peace and people’s happiness.

Monk Thich Hue Phuoc, Deputy Head of Thua Thien Hue’s Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee, said: “Besides regular activities including masses, exhibitions, and art performances, we have focused on charitable activities. We’ll organize lectures on Buddhism for young people and charitable activities for disadvantaged children.”
The Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee of district 1 in Ho Chi Minh city held a meeting on Sunday with dignitaries and followers to mark Buddha’s birthday.
The Executive Committee urged monks, nuns, and followers to practice Buddha’s teachings to eliminate extremism and enhance unity for Buddhism, national interests, and people’s happiness. Pagodas in Ho Chi Minh city have organized solemn ceremonies to celebrate Buddha’s birth anniversary.
