Activities to celebrate the 68th anniversary of National Day on September 2
(VOVworld)-Vietnamese people jubilantly celebrated their National Day on September 2. 68 years ago, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Major newspapers on Monday carried news stories marking the celebration. The national People’s daily newspaper editorially hailed the revolutionary spirit of the August Revolution and the National Day under the leadership of the Party to lead the country towards prosperity, democracy, equality and socialism. The People’s Army newspaper emphasized the lessons learned from the August Revolution in seizing opportunities to make timely and relevant policies in the context of globalization and international integration.
Various activities have taken place across the country to celebrate the day. Hue city has hosted an exhibition displaying photos of the heritage city while offering free entry to Vietnamese people visiting the ancient citadel. Moc Chau district in the northern province of Son La held a cultural performance enriched with local ethnic identities.
