The ministry pledged to speed up the implementation of 4 groups of solutions to prevent tobacco’s adverse impacts including the execution of a regulation on a complete ban on smoking in schools, universities, and educational agencies. Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia said: "First and foremost, it’s important to boost communications activities to improve public awareness of tobacco’s adverse impacts on health. We’ve reserved important parts of the sector’s annual action plan for activities to ensure the strict implementation of smoking ban regulations. The educational sector with more than 1 million teachers and managers and 22 million students, must take the lead in its implementation and in boosting understanding of tobacco’s harmful effects on public health."
