Also on Tuesday, a special art program recreating the past heroic struggle of the nation took place in Quang Binh province.

To mark the occasion, savings books and gifts were presented to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and wounded and sick soldiers in difficult circumstances.

On Tuesday evening, candles were lit at all martyrs' cemeteries and memorials throughout Quang Binh province.

Trinh Van Quan, a member of the Youth Union of the Quang Binh provincial Police, said, “On the War Invalids and Martyrs Day every year, we come here to burn candles and incense to commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for peace. The activity is meaningful to us, the young people of the armed forces. It motivates us to strive harder to maintain peace and protect national security and order.”

Incense, flower offering and candle lighting ceremonies were held at many cemeteries and memorials nationwide in remembrance of heroes and martyrs on this occasion.

Le Tuan Vu, Secretary of the Ha Long Youth Union in Quang Ninh province, said, “This year, the youth unions at the grassroots level will continue to take care of and present insurance cards for policy beneficiaries and Vietnamese heroic mothers.”

“In the coming time, we’ll repair houses for policy families and continue to care for disadvantaged children so that they can feel secure to attend school. The program to build houses for children in difficult circumstances launched by the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization will be implemented in the coming school year,” Vu added.
