(VOVworld) – Activities are being held to mark the 60^th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day. A ceremony was held on Monday to present the Independence Order and Labor Order to veteran city officials in honor of their contributions to Hanoi’s construction and defence in different periods. Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi expressed his hope that the city’s former leaders will continue their efforts for Hanoi’s growth.

To salute the occasion, the Hanoi municipal Youth Union organized a contest on the topic of Hanoi over the past 60 years. By last weekend, the organizing board had received 450,000 entries with abundant illustrations of the capital city and in movements through various development periods. An award ceremony will take place in late October.
