(VOVworld) - President Truong Tan Sang has praised the role of agriculture in national development and stability. He was speaking at the 38^th anniversary of the Mekong Delta Rice Institution and its reception of an Independence Order, 1^st Class, in Can Tho on Thursday.

He highlighted the Party resolution on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas towards modern, sustainable agriculture to ensure national food security.
He urged the institute to promote modern technological application and intensive rice planting in Mekong and Red River Deltas:“The Institute must master modern technology, especially biotech, to create rice breeds, preservation, and processing techniques relevant to the Mekong Delta and Vietnam. Technological transfer to boost productivity, training for farmers and safe agricultural harvesting zones should be developed.”
