(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese Ambassador to the UN Le Hoai Trung has reiterated that Vietnam always shares the mankind’s desire for peace and development as the country had to suffer great losses to protect its independence and territorial integrity. He made the remarks at a debate entitled “Wars, lessons learned and efforts to seek sustainable peace” held by the UN Security Council in New York, the US, to mark the 100^th anniversary of the 1^st World War.

Ambassador Trung said that since its establishment after the World War II, the UN has contributed significantly to prevent a new possible world war while solving the consequences of many world conflicts. He urged the international community and the UN, to improve the important roles of the international laws, the regional mechanisms and organizations to enhance dialogues, build trust, and condemn the acts of using violence, pushing the peaceful settlements of international disputes.
