(VOVWORLD) - Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén applauded President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s just-concluded visit to Cuba, the first official visit to Cuba of a head of state since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.

Guillén told the media on Wednesday that President Phuc’s visit is a testament to the time-tested friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba, who is currently undergoing an economic embargo imposed by the United States.
Ambassador Guillén said Cuba will help Vietnam by providing COVID-19 vaccines and transferring vaccine production technology.

Echoing a Vietnam-Cuba Joint Statement, the Ambassador said their special bilateral political and economic relations have flourished throughout their history until today, when both countries are going through a particularly challenging time. Their shared memories are precious and should be preserved by the leaders and people of both countries for future generations, said the Ambassador.
