Russian Ambassador Konstantin Vnukov stressed that the unanimity and support of the people, the observance of prevention measures from the very first moment the disease broke out, and enhanced sense of responsibility have produced good outcomes and the proud achievement at present. He expressed the hope that Russia and Vietnam would continue pushing ahead with mutual support in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides the anti-pandemic combat, the Russian Ambassador appreciated Vietnam’s performance in the role of ASEAN Chair in 2020 and a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure.
Chilean Ambassador Jaime Chomali said Vietnam has recorded only few new infections over the past days, which showed that its efforts, from central to grassroots level, have produced persuasive outcomes. Border monitoring and school closure had proved to be effective to hold Vietnam’s total tally at 16 for a long while before the second wave hit Vietnam, which has plunged into strict social distancing measures, beginning April, to curb the coronavirus from community transmission. Ambassador Chomali said he is confident in Vietnam’s earlier and more rapid economic recovery than that of other regional countries.
