AmCham confident foreign investors will stay committed to Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) - While tariffs may disrupt global trade, they are unlikely to deter the flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Vietnam, said Adam Sitkoff, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Hanoi.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Sitkoff noted that President Donald Trump’s proposed 46% tariff on goods imported from Vietnam would not only impact the Vietnamese economy but could also harm American consumers, families, and even US companies.
“Vietnam is a good place for a lot of different types of companies from a lot of countries to do business. When I look at our AmCham members, there's a lot of reasons that they're here. For a lot of companies have long-term projects and long-term commitments to Vietnam, and those are going to continue,” said Sitkoff.
Sitkoff expressed hope that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, established in September 2023, would open more opportunities for leaders of both countries to negotiate tariff adjustments.
He affirmed that AmCham will continue working closely with both US and Vietnamese businesses and support Vietnam’s leadership in securing the best possible outcomes for bilateral trade relations.
