It focused on four topics: contributions of the youth to APEC Vision beyond 2020 and the future; economic, financial and social integration, human resources development in the digital age and policies to support start-up, renovation and small and medium-sized enterprises. In the declaration, the delegates said they believed that disparities between economies can be diminished through an equal opportunity. They urged APEC’s members to set out plan to remove social barriers, advance empowerment of women, youth, ethnic minorities, and local people, and improve connection for people living in rural areas. The declaration stressed the importance of educational advancements and equality for sustainable economic development in the Asia-Pacific region.
