(VOVworld)-Art exchange promoting border sovereignty and islands opened in Rach Gia City in the southern province of Kien Giang on Friday. The art program aimed to recall Vietnamese tradition in struggles to defend border and islands while promoting local people support to border guards. Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh said that border and islands are sacred part of the homeland and hold significance in socio economic development and national defense:“We should pay attention to investment on infrastructure in coastal roads and sea ports. Special policy should be initiated for Phu Quoc district island while promoting policy to cope with climate change and rising sea level.”
