The event was jointly sponsored by the People’s Newspaper, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, and the Russian Center for Science and Culture. Addressing the opening ceremony, Thuan Huu, Editor-in-Chief of People’s newspaper, said:"The Russian October Revolution has made Vietnam and Russia closer and enhanced the time-honored relationship. The Vietnamese people will always be grateful for the heartfelt support and valuable assistance of the Russians. Late President Ho Chi Minh said that following the path of the October Revolution initiated by Lenin, the Vietnamese gained a glorious victory."
The art program’s attendees met and talked with Russians who told stories about the revolution and their memories concerning the Vietnam-Russia friendship. Then they enjoyed a special program of songs performed by both Vietnamese and Russian singers.
