ASEAN ambassadors hail Vietnam’s role as ASEAN Chair

(VOVWORLD) - ASEAN ambassadors congratulated Vietnam for hosting the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat and hailed Vietnam’s role as ASEAN Chair in boosting initiatives and joint efforts to resolve regional and global issues, especially the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic.

At the first meeting of 2020 of the ASEAN Commission in Washington on Monday, Vietnamese ambassador to the US Ha Kim Ngoc and other ASEAN ambassadors discussed preparations for the ASEAN-US Special Summit next month in Las Vegas.
The ASEAN Commission in Washington held working sessions with Acting Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade Diane Farrell and Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia Laurie Farris. Ms. Farrell said the US government hopes to maintain fair economic and trade relations with other countries towards regional development and prosperity. She said the US Department of Commerce wants to boost cooperation with ASEAN in building smart cities, stabilizing exports to the US, and strengthening ASEAN investment in the US.
