(VOVworld) - Vietnamese Foreign Ministry and the German KAS Institute held a workshop in Hanoi on Thursday to analize recent incidents in Sino-US relations and forecast future trends. Delegates discussed impacts of China US relations on regional security environment and the central role by ASEAN in this context.

Dr Le Hong Hiep from the Singapore’s Southeast Asia Research Institute believed that the ASEAN should retain and promote its role in regional security structure. Professor Carlyle Thayer urged the ASEAN to cooperate with related parties in the East Sea to promote maritime transparency initiative towards full implementation of the Declaration on Conducts of Parties in the East Sea and early finalization of the parties’ Code of Conducts.
