(VOVWORLD) -ASEAN++ Bridge Forum themed "Connecting for Sustainable Development" on Friday discusses trade in the ASEAN and beyond and opportunities for businesses to promote a green circular economy based on sustainable development.
The forum in Ho Chi Minh City organized by the municipal Department of Industry and Trade and the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Women Executives and Entrepreneurs (HAWEE) was attended by former Vice President Truong My Hoa and former Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.
Participants said that in Vietnam, many businesses are interested in investing in green economy, including wind power projects in the South Central region and the Mekong Delta.
Cao Thi Ngoc Dung, Chairwoman of HAWEE, said: “We already have our members’ communication, forums, and strategies towards sustainable development. We help our members understand what sustainable development looks like. It is a whole journey. The first is that the business owner must be conscious of investing in sustainable development or not. Over the years, we have done a lot of this promotion work and now members are aware of and start a green economic journey.”
Green economy is Vietnam’s highlight in the current challenging context with the task of both economic recovery and sustainable development. Ho Chi Minh City's target is to achieve a GRDP growth of 6- 6.5% in 2022 and 8% the 2021-2025 period.
