ASEAN Economic Ministers adopt Hanoi plan to enhance cooperation
(VOVWORLD) - Economic ministers from ASEAN member nations held an online meeting on June 4 to implement instructions from ASEAN leaders made at the Special ASEAN Summit on COVID-19 on April 14.

Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, which holds the ASEAN Chairmanship 2020, led the meeting. The ministers approved the Hanoi Action Plan, which aims to enhance economic cooperation within the bloc and connect supply chains amid the changing circumstances in the region caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Minister Tran Tuan Anh said: "We have contained the spread of the epidemic and make prompt support to minimize COVID-19’s negative impacts on the socio-economic life. They are the encouraging results which make us more confident in combating the disease. It’s now more urgent than ever that we need to stay united and take strong, practical measures to boost the strength of ASEAN in a cohesive and responsive manner."
The ministers also looked into joint statements issued by business advisory councils, including the ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
