(VOVworld) – Education officials, academics, and researchers from ASEAN member states and the European Union are gathering in Jakarta for the first policy dialogue on assuring the quality of ASEAN higher education.

Held by the ASEAN Secretariat, the 2-day dialogue is part of a pilot project on EU’s support to higher education in ASEAN region (SHARE).

Alicia Dela Rosa Bala, ASEAN Deputy Secretary General, said through this inaugural policy dialogue, ASEAN and the EU aim to map existing cooperation on higher education in ASEAN, and identify and tap potential synergies to ultimately benefit students, higher education institutions, and professionals in the region.

The other focus of the policy dialogue is university degree acknowledgement by all ASEAN members and capacity building for universities of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
