ASEAN foreign ministers meet in Brunei
(VOVworld) – ASEAN foreign ministers today/ on Friday concluded a series of meetings in Brunei to prepare for the 22nd ASEAN summit due to take place later this month. During their 2 days in Brunei, the ministers attended the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the ASEAN Political-Security Community Council, and the ASEAN Coordinating Council. Vietnamese delegates were led by Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

The meetings reviewed the progress the bloc has made toward building an ASEAN community. They touched upon ASEAN’s external affairs, its central role in shaping the region, and issues such as ensuring peace, stability, and maritime safety in the East Sea and completing the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC).
Earlier Brunei hosted several ASEAN Senior Officials Meetings (SOM) and a preparatory meeting of senior officials in charge of politics-security, economics, and culture-society.
