(VOVworld) – India values ASEAN’s role in its “Look East” policy and hopes to strengthen co-operation with ASEAN in 3 pillars of the ASEAN Community after 2015, said the Indian Ambassador to ASEAN at the 15th ASEAN-India Joint Cooperation Committee meeting on Tuesday.

ASEAN and India are seeking to increase bilateral trade turnover to 100 billion USD in 2015 and 200 billion USD in 2020. The two sides have agreed to establish an ASEAN-India Centre in the near future and enhance co-operation in maritime security, cyber security, counter-terrorism, science, technology, people exchanges, climate change adaptation, disaster rescue operations, and narrowing development gaps.
Head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to ASEAN Ambassador Nguyen Hoanh Nam reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to improving ties with India and bringing ASEAN-India ties to a new height.
