(VOV) – The 9th ASEAN Military Intelligence Informal Meeting (AMIIM-9) opened in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Tuesday. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Lieutenant General Luu Duc Huy, who is also Director of the General Department of Military Intelligence of the Ministry of National Defence. Mr. Huy said that ASEAN military intelligence cooperation will improve the capacity to handle the security challenges that face each nation, and the whole bloc. He also proposed promoting exchanges and building mechanisms for cooperation and training in intelligence between member countries. Participants agreed on the theme of the upcoming 9^th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Informal Meeting, its draft joint statement, and an agreement on the meeting’s future operations.
