(VOVworld) – The second annual ASEAN Pride Music Festival opened in Hanoi on Saturday to mark the 20
th anniversary of the normalization of relations between Vietnam and the US.

The event was co-hosted by the United States Embassy in Hanoi and CAMA Vietnam. The festival attracted the participation of famous artists, such as US indie rock band Thao Nguyen & The Get Down Stay Down, alongside Vietnam’s own transgender pop sensation Huong Giang Idol, Malaysia’s O.J. Law, Thai girl rockers Yellow Fang, Ho Chi Minh’s COCC, and To Lam and his high-heel dance troupe.
In addition to music activities, the festival reserved its space for community booths, arts and crafts, food, and a tent to present President Obama’s Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative. With the theme “Celebrate Family”, the festival also created a safe space to celebrate the vibrancy of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.
