ASEAN’s 46th anniversary celebrated
(VOVworld) – An art performance took place in Hanoi on Thursday to mark ASEAN’s 46th anniversary and Vietnam’s 18-year membership. This annual event was part of communication activities towards building a strong and closely connected bloc. It brought together Vietnam and other member states to promote their fine relationship and solidarity. The performance enchanted the audience with cultural traditions of the bloc’s members, creating a colorful picture of ASEAN’s identities.
The same day, a festival featuring the national culture of ASEAN members opened in Bangkok, Thailand. Among the participants were Thai Minister of Culture Sonthaya Khunploem, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Ngo Duc Thang, and representatives of ASEAN embassies in Thailand. Khunploem said in his opening address that Thailand is doing its utmost to promote the image of ASEAN and is determined to join efforts to build an ASEAN community by 2015.

Vietnam, alongside traditional art performances, is showcasing brochures, magazines, photos and other documents about Vietnam as well as authentic Vietnamese dishes to promote the image of Vietnam’s land and people to international friends.
