(VOVworld) – The 2013 Asia Defense and Security Exhibition opened in the Thai province of Nonthaburi on Sunday. Army leaders from more than 50 countries and 274 manufacturers of weapons and security equipment attended the event. The Vietnamese delegation is headed by Deputy chief of the Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan. Tuan said: “The exhibition gives us the information we need in order to modernize the Vietnamese army. We are particularly interested in Thailand’s weaponry”.

The Vietnamese delegation on Tuesday attended a seminar on ASEAN cooperation in the defense industry and met with army officials from a number of countries including Thailand. Earlier, Lieutenant General Tuan met with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
