(VOVWORLD) - The Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) exercise began on Tuesday in the Philippines.

Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Armand Balilo said the exercise involves 100 maritime law enforcement officers from Bangladesh, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and the US. Balilo said the week-long exercise will address maritime security threats in Southeast Asia: illegal fishing, smuggling, illegal drugs, and human trafficking.
The exercise will be conducted in the Subic, Zambales, and Sulu Seas.
