An emotional National Cup opener was played Saturday between Nam Dinh FC and Hoang Anh Gia Lai.
Tens of thousands of enthusiastic Nam Dinh supporters flooded Thien Truong Stadium after the organising committee agreed to let fans in to support their team.
The Asian Football Confederation posted an article on its website praising the quality of the match and announcing that V-League 2020 will restart on June 5.
The Thai version of Goal called the Nam Dinh-Hoang Anh Gia match “a hearty football party”.
Thailand’s Siam Sports described long lines of fans queuing up to buy tickets for the match. It noted that Vietnam is the first Southeast Asian country to be given a green light to start holding football events again.
