(VOVworld) – Many community-based surveillance models have been implemented to raise the knowledge and skills of local medical workers under an USAID Avian and Pandemic Influenza Initiative. A review workshop in Hanoi on Tuesday said that over the past four years since the project was launched, it has provided necessary equipment to help people early detect, prevent, and control outbreaks of avian influenza and other emerging infectious and zoonotic diseases. Under the program, measures to improve the infrastructure have been prioritized to minimize cross contagion.
