(VOVWORLD) - Azerbaijani forces have taken control of the strategically important town of Shushi in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbạijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said Sunday, calling it a strategic victory.

The town is 15 kilometers from the city of Stepanakert on the main road to Armenia.
Armenia has denied the claim and said Shushi and surrounding areas are still witnessing fierce fighting.
