She said Belgium will urge the European Parliament to pass a resolution and take action to support Vietnam’s decontamination efforts.
In meetings with Belgian legislative leaders, Mr. Son said Vietnam wants stronger relations and cooperation with Belgium in all fields. He thanked the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium for being the first legislative body in the world to pass a resolution calling for international support for AO victims and other war consequences in Vietnam.
Éliane Tillieux, President of Belgium’s Chamber of Representatives said the resolution sends a strong message to the international community to help Vietnam overcome the effects of AO. She said she will call on Belgian businesses to participate in detoxification projects in Vietnam.
In talks with Hadja Lahbib, Belgium’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers agreed to cooperate in implementing the resolution.
