The documents, including 2 Nguyen Dynasty’s royal decrees and 5 degrees issued in Binh Thuan and Khanh Hoa province in the 19th century, showed that the Nguyen court nominated Le Van Cham and Le Non to be the commanders of naval soldiers to patrol and safeguard the waters from Binh Thuan to Khanh Hoa province. Written in ancient Vietnamese script, these documents hold important historical, cultural and scientific value and prove that the Nguyen Dynasty had established naval teams to defend the sea and islands belonging to Vietnam.
