The Bloomberg Philanthropies granted Vietnam 2.4 million USD for the first two years of the 5-year program.

The rate of child drowning in Vietnam is higher than other Southeast Asian countries, with about 2,000 cases annually. Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha said Vietnam has exerted efforts to prevent child drowning and calls for international cooperation in this effort: “The close cooperation between Ministries, sectors, localities, and organizations and support of domestic and international organizations will contribute to reducing tolls of child drowning and ensuring a safe living environment for children.”
