The bomb attack took place when hundreds of worshipers gathered at Hisarak Jame Mosque to pray. Security forces blockaded the area in fear of a second blast. Victims were sent to local hospitals. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Tensions have escalated in Afghanistan since 2014 when the International Security Assistance Force led by the US and NATO completed their peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan. The Taliban has increased bomb attacks across Afghanistan. Within the first 3 months of 2016, Taliban attacks killed 600 people and wounded 1,340 people.
