Brazil dam collapse: 200 missing, seven confirmed dead
(VOVWORLD) -At least seven people have been killed and about 200 others have gone missing in southeast Brazil after a tailings dam collapsed at an iron ore mine.
Among the missing, there were about 100 workers buried by the mud at lunchtime in canteen. An emergency team estimated Friday’s collapse had released a million tons of water and mud. Five helicopters were dispatched to the area to search for people in distress and evaluate the scale of the destruction. Civil defence officials said people living in low-lying areas in the town had been evacuated from their homes.
