(VOVworld) – The Brazilian Attorney General’s office on Monday accused Senate President Renan Calheiros of passive corruption and money laundering related to state-owned oil producer Petrobras.

Calheiros and his deputy Anibal Gomez are accused of receiving more than 240,000 USD from infrastructure company Serveng in return for helping it obtain contracts with Petrobras.
Calheiros also faces other charges of corruption, which has stirred up a serious conflict between the Parliament and the Supreme Court. A probe into Petrobras corruption cases is expanding and involving more and more politicians.
