Brexit and relation with Russia top NATO Summit’s agenda

(VOVworld) – The NATO Summit opened on Friday in Warsaw, Poland with leaders of 28 member countries attending. During the two-day summit, NATO leaders will discuss Britain’s departure from the EU and relations with Russia.

Discussions will also focus on strengthening security in NATO’s Eastern flank, including the deployment of four multinational battalions to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. Speaking at the summit, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg said that NATO is seeking ways to hold constructive talks with Russia, adding that NATO doesn’t want another Cold War.  

Before the opening session of the Summit, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, European Council Presideant Donald Tusk and European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker signed a joint defense cooperation accord. This is the first official paper for cooperation between the EU and NATO which ensure the coordination of EU and NATO forces in dealing with challenges including migrants, cyber attacks and other threats.
