European Commission deputy chief Frans Timmermans said on Thursday he would welcome Britain back into the EU "with open arms" if it reconsidered its decision to quit the bloc. Addressing a conference in Prague, the Czech Republic, Timmermans said that anytime the UK decided to reverse its plan, it would be welcomed. Timmermans echoed French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement on Tuesday that says “the door remains open” for Britain to change its mind on Brexit. The statements came amid British citizens’ decreasing support for Prime Minister Theresa May. May’s Conservative Party lost 12 seats in the snap election in early June.
The Scottish government announced that it would meet all parties to work out “the least bad Brexit for Scotland”.
