Buddhism contributes to national unity
(VOVworld)- The President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan has highlighted Buddhism’s great contributions to the strengthening of national unity. At a New Year meeting with Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, Head of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha's Patronage Council and other Buddhist dignitaries, Nhan said he hoped that Buddhist dignitaries and followers always actively contribute to national development. He said the Vietnam Fatherland Front is willing to assist the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to organize Vesak 2014, a celebration of Buddha's birthday in Viet Nam. The Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue said the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha would always respond to patriotic emulation movements and social programs launched by the Fatherland Front to contribute to national development.
