The annual event was organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD). It served as an occasion for enterprises to discuss and propose solutions to the Government to improve their resilience, competitiveness, and sustainable development.
In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said the Vietnamese government integrated the SDGs index in all socio-economic development strategies. Vietnam has completed 2 goals concerning quality education, responsible consumption, and production while accelerating the implementation of other goals. He urged businesses to work closely together in order to enhance sustainable development.
'Many businesses have contributed greatly to the fight against the pandemic in Vietnam. Businesses that pursue the philosophy of sustainable development have stood firm and helped the community and workers. 97% of Vietnamese businesses are medium and small and we need to work closely to build a business community for sustainable development,' said Mr. Dam.
At the forum, the Organizing Board announced the list of 10 sustainable businesses in Vietnam and honored outstanding businesses in ensuring gender equality and child rights enhancement in workplace.
