Nguyen Quyet Chien is Head of the Sub-Department of Customs at the Lao Cai border gate: “Vietnam’s export value to China in May increased by 3% against April and the figure is expected to increase in the near future as the harvest season is near. Vietnam’s imports of fertilizer and machinery from China will also rise. We always facilitate import and export activities by applying an automatic system in customs clearance”.
Mr. Cao Manh Cuong, a representative of the Long Hai Group, which specializes in fertilizer production, said that the cooperation between his group and traditional Chinese partners remains normal: “The exchange of goods through the border gate with China remains busy. This month, we plan to import more goods from China”.
Last year, the trade value through the Lao Cai border gate reached about 1.6 billion USD. Once the Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway is completed, the Lao Cai Steel Plant, which is a joint venture between Vietnam Steel Corporation and Kunming Steel Corporation, comes into operation, trade exchanges at the Lao Cai-Hekou border gate are expected to be busier.
