It will introduce and promote the floating market, a unique and exciting destination for domestic and international visitors. And it will offer opportunities for local businesses and people to present their tourism products.

The highlighted activities are a showcase of the dozens of trading boats that sell food and agricultural products at the market, as well as the typical parade of all the boats along the Cai Rang River. Around 60 stalls will be set up along the river to introduce local specialties including traditional Southern cakes, fruits, and tourism products.

The festival also includes a presentation of áo bà ba, a simpler version of the áo dài – Vietnamese traditional dress – with the flaps ending at the hipline and a front button used for access. There will be performances of folk songs and Tai Tu or amateur music as well as a boat race. A seminar on digital transformation in the tourism sector will be held, attracting leaders, experts and tourism agencies from Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities throughout the Mekong Delta. Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of Can Tho city’s People’s Committee, said: “Can Tho city is accelerating a project for the preservation and promotion of Cai Rang Floating Market to develop tourism from 2023 with a vision to 2045. It is essential to enhance the State management to regulate the quality and prices of tourism services, develop high-quality tourism products, and build a visitor-friendly environment to attract more tourists to Can Tho Floating Market.”

In the first half of this year, Can Tho city has welcomed nearly 4 million visitors.
